The employee retention committee is a crucial requirement for the management of employees in a workplace. Based on the provided case, the chairman Dave Andrew is observed to call for a meeting 10 days before it’s schedule. The chairman facilitates communication through phone and personal levels where he informed to employees via the phone and other two in person. However, the chairman fails to call or email the members to remind them about the meeting. During the meeting, Andrew was late to his meeting, while other two members had arrived before him. Alice that had forgotten about the meeting arrived 18 minutes late. The meeting was facilitated by Andrew’s office, and the members were complaining about its size stating it was small and was getting hot. However, based on the delays the meeting started late at 1:30 pm and the team members have other meetings at 2 pm. Due to the delays and the inconveniences encounters the meeting did not resolve crucial matters that were supposed to be discussed.

Based on the observed scenario, one of the major things that Dave would have done is emailing all the members five days before the meeting. This aspect would have served as a reminder to all the members would have remembered to honour their commitments (Putnam & Feidstein, 2013). Also, it was necessary for Dave to send an early reminder on the day of the meeting through an email. Moreover, reservation of an appropriate room to facilitate the meeting was a crucial requirement to promote employees comfort based on their needs to facilitate a conducive environment for them. More so, it was a requirement for Dave to develop an agenda and provide the members with copies to encourage sticking to the main objective of the meeting as well as encouraging members to prepare themselves with essential information about the matter at hand.

To have a successful meeting, it is essential to have a detailed agenda. This can be achieved through consideration of the 3Ts rule (Phillips, 2015). This is comprised of time to ensure that the meeting is scheduled and will start and end at a specified period. Also, the topic of the agenda should be outlined. Dave as the chairman should have identified a critical topic to be discussed. Moreover, the Talker is a crucial aspect that requires being considered. This is the facilitator of the meeting and is responsible for the topic to be discussed and leads in conversation.

The position of the chairperson should be filled by the chief of human resource department. The selected individual is required to have experience in managing retention (Putnam & Feidstein, 2013). Also, the recorder is a crucial party that is required to assist the chairperson. The mission of the committee is the provision of leadership for the effective management of retention rates. On the other hand, the purpose of the retention committee is to organize. Thus, the hospital’s retention committee organizes the recruitment and retention committee. The main objective of the committee is the promotion of involvement of members in an improvement of their working environment. Thus, the hospital is responsible for the provision of quality care to its patients.
