Examination of how the issue is impacted by funding

Challenges in the nursing field are arising day by day and financial problems are the most common ones, and they also influence other problems in practice too. Funds misuse and misappropriation can lead to operational problems. This curtails their training programs that equip them with necessary skills to handle any challenge and to improve their abilities. It can also cause decreased motivation since they provide care with minimum benefits. Access to high-quality care can be affected by funding since the nurse has to be motivated in this part. Even though it is a part of their ethical responsibility, insufficient funds predispose the nurses and the patients to poor working conditions. Resources are also scarce which means that drugs, equipment, and miscellaneous items crucial to both the patients and the nurses lack (Doane, Pauly, Brown & McPherson, 2012). Nurses are usually conflicted in case there is a wrestle between equal treatments for all versus treatment for very important or rich people. Nurses can choose to attend to well up patients over regular patients such as giving them shorter waiting times, all time round care and also being kept in individual or private rooms for extra care. This violates the ethical and moral code guiding nurses (Doane et al., 2012)

.Analysis of the relationship between the issue, access to care, and professional practice

Access to quality care is an ethical concern to the nurses, and they have the responsibility to make sure every patient is offered the best care possible regardless of the method used. During such times a nurse is supposed to handle such matter with competence and professionalism without compromising any ethical requirements or moral values (Cameron, Schaffer & Park, 2014). According to the nurses’ ethical decision making principles such as beneficence, it gives the nurses an obligation to do well unto others and act accordingly to their best interests (Mahlin, 2013). Equal access to health care is crucial to nurses in the profession irrespective of their filed or caste. Professionalism is vital for any practice especially the medical practice.

Nurses have to depict competence in their field of availing care to patients though according to various studies it is shown that some can neglect this code due to some reasons such as reduced benefits, negative attitude towards the patients and so on  (Kim, Park & Han, 2016). Nurses should also have the ability to make sound decisions relating to patients incapable of making the decision themselves. This is according to their training pertaining the patient’s best interests. Thus in this practice, nurses should consult with their subordinates and their superiors and the patient’s kin for a professional and decisive course of action to take in case of some circumstances (Mahlin, 2013).

Proposal of a reasonable and real-world solution to the issue

Ethical issues are inevitable in a social setting like that of a hospital and mechanisms to solve these challenges have to be put into place. Hospitals should be required by an ethics commission to have an ethics committee or consultants around the clock to address such problems and assist patients, families, and employees in time in case of such issues  (Hutchinson, Shedlin, Gallo, Krainovich-Miller & Fulmer, 2014). It should be a requirement for the consultants or committee made up to be well grounded and versed on the hospital’s policies and have additional ethical training as an added advantage. Training, open discussions and ongoing education strategies can be used by health professionals in the enhancement of ethical practices in the health institutions. These programs should be tailor made to address ethical issues and update the staff on the trends relating to ethical issues towards nursing and other officials in the field of health (Hutchinson et al., 2014).

The hospitals’ administration should blend a formal ethics policy and support mechanisms to their existing culture that will allow nurses address the grim areas of their practice to offer solutions and coping mechanisms to the raised challenges. This can be a significant stride for the nurses and any other practitioners in the health sector. They should also foster an understanding of the ethical practice in the field which will enable the nurses to adapt and respond to the dynamic situations in their day to day work.

Evaluation of the need for changes in policy and law to implement the proposed solution

Commissions on ethics together with the government should develop policies and laws that press for the above solution. To implement the above changes some things have to change such as the number of staff working in the hospitals. The increased number of employees need training that is up to date and also require remunerations for their jobs. So in coming up with policies or changing the already existing policies, the government and all the other stakeholders have to consider these. The old always tends to conflict with the new (Hutchinson et al., 2014).

That is the reason as to why there must be some tweaking in the existing policies since some of the information might become contradicting and may even outweigh the benefits of the plan. The policy and law also require changes since the issue of ethics are quite dynamic and to deal with future shortcomings you need to have prepared for them prior. This also helps to come up with coping mechanisms since not all people respond to change positively, some are rigid to change (Hutchinson et al., 2014). This issue of adopting new ways of solving ethical issues, the policy and law ought to have well thought out coping mechanism to help people adapt slowly with time to the new system.

Evaluation of the financial impact of the proposed solution on the population, providers, and society

To implement a solution and for it to work, there must be a financial foundation to it. The impact on the population will be minimal in the sense that only a small fee will be charged to keep the system going of which will be beneficial to the community. Their pockets will not be strained since funds can also come from the government, private donors and foundations and other parties. In case of a quarrel between the patients’ families and the nurses, the system will alleviate the problem of settling the dispute in court which is more expensive but will analyze the situation forehand and give a possible solution that will satisfy both parties. The providers of the solution will benefit from the system regarding remunerations, but it will go hand in hand in availing of their services to the necessary parties (Hutchinson et al., 2014).

The impact will enable further research and training in ethical issues which will further streamline the decision-making process of the committee and consultants. The society just like the population will also contribute to the success of the system such as paying off a small fee in case they visit a hospital or even in payment of taxes, giving of information that will be used in research which in turn will benefit them in the future.

Relevance of the Issue to the Registered Nurses

It is important for nurses to understand the challenges they might face and how they can overcome them to promote effective health care. Ethical and legal policies are important as they help follow and maintain checks on fundamental issues as raised by the government to the health sector. They also help develop the best standards and methods to handle the existing issues and to retain the global relevance of health and public health through sealing the loopholes and bridging the gaps in the health sector. Extensive Research is important for nurses because nursing knowledge should be progressive and therefore maintaining the trend is critical to remain relevant. All the upheld solutions should be in line with the ethical standards of the medical sector. It is important for nurses to improve their knowledge and sharpen their health care skills because at the end they achieve personal goals and objectives as they meet the goals and objectives of the institution.
