Evidence-based practice

Evidence-based practice

Hello, Brenda Casamento, Evidence-based practice have been emphasized on in the nursing sector with most medical facilities encouraging nurses to peruse further studies and gain the necessary skills towards the same. The move has however been rough. I agree with you that the fact that this is a critical field it needs a lot of backing from the government all the way to the physicians in the medical facilities. This, however, has been a challenge as the nurses have not been given ample time and space to practice and therefore reducing the pace of its realization in most of the medical facilities. For it to be effective ample time and space is necessary to enable the nurses to perform intensive research and do major trials to come up with a conclusive research-based practice. I feel that the willing is there as many nurses have embarked or shown the interest of furthering their studies but lack time, motivation and the support from the government. The nursing field is also a bit harsh on them as they sometimes lack enough financial capabilities for perusing higher degrees to enable them to gain the necessary technics and skills.

I also agree with you that for effectiveness to be attained in the evidence-basedpractices field all the five steps must be coordinated and aligned in the right manner by the involved parties. The nursing field is an intensive job field with less free time. Most of the nurses work double shifts due to the shortage of nurses in the medical facilities. The nurse’s job is also intensive as they are the in most contact with the patient and therefore giving no enough space to practice more or rather further their studies. The training facilities and the medical facilities most of the time also lack the necessary exposure regarding the technology and the research laboratories to conduct further research for the same. This, therefore, ends up making their effort watered down and the ones that are seeking further studies have to pay more for them to be in the best nursing schools. This, therefore, reduces the number of nurses who are walking to go for further studies as the financial issues at as a major constraining factor. This to a greater extent has reduced the number of nurses that study and qualify for higher degrees and therefore making it hard to expand the evidence-based practice field.
