Interagency Collaboration Interview: Describe the services the agency has available for educators and parents, in collaboration with public schools, to support students with specific learning disabilities or emotional and behavior disorders, or early childhood students.

As you know or will soon discover, successful schools of the future will engage in interagency collaboration, with collaborators working together to achieve the goal of serving all students. School consultation will be an important tool for coordinating health, social, and education services to help all students, particularly those with special needs.

For this assignment, interview someone who works for a public or private agency provider with the purpose of assessing the services of that agency. It may be a mental health agency, a parent support group, an educational service provider for students with disabilities, and so on. See the Community Resources Information (Figure 13.4) on page 382 of your text to guide your collection of information.

After conducting the interview, write a paper in which you address the following points:

Describe the services the agency has available for educators and parents, in collaboration with public schools, to support students with specific learning disabilities or emotional and behavior disorders, or early childhood students. (Select one group, depending on your area of emphasis—for example, autism, cognitive impairment, other health impairment, multiple disabilities, hearing, or visual impairment, and so on.)
Describe the referral process and the agency eligibility requirements to access the services.
Explain how the agency is funded.
Analyze how what you learned about the agency augments or supports your school services.
Assess your own knowledge and skills for consulting with professionals and agencies and advocating for optimal services for special needs students.
The interview can be made up. Just all of the points need to be addressed.
