Maximization of Children’s Health

Children at lower age are likely to suffer from different illness thus require frequent visits to the clinic for the checkup. Once the baby is born, the parent is advised to go for checkup regularly. Things discussed include growth and development, physical examination and guidance to the parents (Hagan, 2011).

Components of a well-child check.

During the clinic, growth and development are checked. Various reading is recorded such as weight and height. The child’s weight is measured using infant scale and the weight difference from last time visit is recorded (Hagan, 2011). A curve indicating body mass index is drawn to analyze the baby’s general development which helps parents to know growth rate of their baby.

Educational intervention plan.

Parents are responsible for educating their children from the time are born until they grow up. Since this 3- month old infant is adopted, it is good if the parent chooses to educate the child like their own. In this case, the doctor or nurse can intervene and teach the parents about their child and the capability he or she has in order to take good educational action for their baby.

Physical exam.

Physical exam is done by checking various parts of the baby from the head- to- toe. The part which should be focused on is the head. That is checking the fontanel, the gap between the skull bones and the shape of the head (Hagan, 2011). This is because most of the activities are controlled by the head and without proper functioning of the head, other parts might fail. Conclusively, a child depends on the parent at early stages of development thus good care is recommended.
